Behold the era of video marketing!

This is really nothing new, but perhaps when any change is spoken into existence it becomes more real and thus leaves some of us in a frenzy.

I do remember my first vlog very vividly… I was so nervous I had to write a whole script out and tape it to the wall behind my phone (hello DIY teleprompter!)

Now, as a business owner and content expert, I still get butterflies before recording, but needless to say, I throw my red Mac lipstick on and embrace this feeling while also having a bit of fun in the process.

So as an entrepreneur, you might be wondering, “how can I fit video marketing into my social strategy?” with all the other items on your checklist.

Well friend, get ready to feast your eyes on some creative ways to incorporate video ideas for social platforms right here.

Below is a quick rundown of the video marketing campaign ideas we’ll talk about 👇

  1. Create a Visual Recap
  2. Create Behind the Scenes Footage
  3. The Slo-mo Product Boomerang
  4. Create a Gif using Google Animations
  5. Turn a podcast or blog into a video with Headliner
  6. Create a screen recording
  7. Use Stop-motion videos
  8. *BONUS*: 3D Animations using Life Lapse or Loopsie App

Video Marketing Strategy: the why behind it

Before we get into the juicy details, let’s talk about why video works.

First off, an image just doesn’t ignite your senses as a video can. Yeah… I said it.

And, if you’re like me and can cry instantly while watching an episode of This is Us, you’d understand that the combination of emotional music and relatability just gets you in your feels.

It connects you in a way no other medium can.

To put this into context, 64% of consumers purchase a product after watching social videos created by brands and 55% of consumers watch videos before making purchase decisions.

Video can be used to explain a difficult concept (explainer video), it could mean showing up on your IG stories to tease behind-the-scenes footage, or even repurpose podcast content with Headliner.

With that said, the benefits of video are endless and it’s safe to say that online videos aren’t going anywhere. However, that doesn’t mean you need to spend a wad of money on a new Nikon, you just need some simple ideas to implement into the video marketing strategy you already have.

Okay, get your notes app ready. Here comes idea #1. 👇

One of the benefits of video marketing: Achieve your marketing goals by creating viral videos.

One of the benefits of video marketing is to achieve your marketing goals by creating viral videos.

#1 Create a Visual Recap

The first type of video you might consider is a visual recap. Your target audience wants to see your online business progress. A visual recap can be made into an array of customer testimonials to showcase your business glow-up or it could be about your personal journey.

Either way, they want to know how you (or your business) got from point A to point B, so tell them using a visual recap.

This option is great for those of you who hold onto video clips throughout the years so all you really need to do is scroll through your phone and compile those milestone moments.

Here’s the video creation process:

  • Open Tik-Tok to find trending audio (optional) – I used the #27videochallenge audio
  • Compile 10-20 video clips
  • Use a video editor (I love Splice!) to edit your videos into 1-3 second snippets
  • Add upbeat audio, text, and jazzy transitions

Voilà a visual recap of your progress.

*Warning* this option might inspire you through reflection on how far you’ve come.

Alright friend, let’s check out some more types of videos you can use for your social channels.

#2 Create Behind the Scenes Footage

People don’t want to see the “perfect Instagram layout” anymore. People want messy and real forms of content. Share a mistake you made, your latest DIY project, product videos, or just an organic post of you and your cat hanging out.

Instagram Stories are a great type of content to showcase behind the scenes, especially if you aren’t too comfortable being on camera (since they go away in 24 hours). They showcase authentic snippets of your business to your potential target audience and create a deeper bond with the loyal customers you already have. Stories are like your own personal reality TV and c’mon who could resist a new episode of Jersey Shore back in the day!?

While creating your social strategy or marketing campaigns for the upcoming month, make a video goal to upload 1-2 behind-the-scenes stories and 1 feed post about something you’re working on.

Here’s an example of how Brand Designer, Shayne created a quick behind the scenes product video for her branding company:

Let’s whizz onto our next type of video; boomerangs. 👇

#3 The Slo-Mo Product Boomerang

This idea is perfect for product-based businesses but can also be used to showcase your go-to products that help your business thrive. Something about a slo-mo is satisfying yet very simple to create.

To make this idea come to life, all you need is your phone, the product, some poppin’ sunlight, and your bed.

Open up your video camera and start recording, then drop both your phone and product at the same time onto your bed. Although the concept is simple, it might take you a couple of times to line up the drop of your phone and product.

In post-production, you’ll want to duplicate the shot, reverse the second one, and toggle the slow-motion settings on the second one so that your final product will look something like this.

#4 Create a Gif using Google Animations

It’s no secret that Gifs have taken over the internet and have now become a whole other language. They can be an effective video marketing strategy because they can be used to incorporate humor into complicated topics or to increase your audience engagement.

You can create your own Gif using Google Animations by:

  • Heading to your Google Photos app in your G-Suite
  • Click explore on the left-hand side
  • Under creations at the bottom click “animations”
  • Click “create new” and upload your content

Here’s an example of a Gif I created with some branded business photos.

Now, if you want to get real saucy with your Gifs, keep reading.

To get the transparent background look like Your Social Team pop over to the video platform Unscreen, throw in a Gif (or search for ones right on their site), and click, “remove background.” Add these Gifs to your social templates to bring a bit of pizazz to the mix.

Now for a video marketing tool to keep in your back pocket; Headliner.

#5 Use Headliner App to turn a podcast or blog into a video

The best part about this video type? It takes seconds to make. Okay… maybe minutes, but you get my point. With Headliner App‘s intuitive features, you can transcribe, edit, and get automatic podcast videos made all in one spot.

If you’ve been a guest on a podcast, this is an awesome way to produce high-quality video content without the need to have your own podcast.

I recommend using this app to repurpose old content too. If your target audience loved a podcast you released (or were featured in) a year ago, take the best sound bites from it, create an eye poppin’ background and make it brand new! This will benefit your video SEO through the redirection of new traffic to old content that’s still relevant.

Whether you want to make a 30-second podcast promo or 1-minute blog recap you can play around with the free version (limited number of creations per month) of Headliner and get inspired by their gallery here.

Now, let’s talk about a couple more creative ideas for your social media channels.

#6 Create a screen recording

Remember how I told you I used to get sweaty palms thinking of recording a video? You might say I’m a bit of an introvert, so this video idea is for all my fellow introverts out there who are struggling to get on camera.

Say you’re creating a how-to video tutorial teaching others how they can make their own product tags using Canva. Simply use the screen recording feature that comes with every iPhone to record the steps on your Canva app. Then, record audio (using the voice memos app on your iPhone or any other recording software you have) of you explaining the steps to provide a bit more connection with your followers.

Some other screen recording alternatives I recommend are Zoom and Loom.

You can plop your screen recording into your video editing software or simply use Canva (for free!) to snip out the parts you don’t want and adjust the settings to fit the social media platform of your choosing.

Using screen recordings for educational content is a great way to create value and cultivate a connection with your target audience without fully showing your face.

Last but not least… idea #7. ⬇️

#7 Use Stop-Motion Videos

If you can’t tell, I’m all about repurposing. I mean, why not save a bunch of time recycling content that’s worked rather than trying to reinvent the real… you with me?

For this reason, I present to you… stop-motion videos.

A stop motion video is a bunch of pictures pieced together to make a story. For instance, I turned an old message that performed really well into a new, stop-motion video here (hello content repurposing!).

This idea is a neat way to bring something inanimate to life and to showcase products, outfit pairings, or visually present a process.

To get started with this, I recommend using the Life Lapse app or heading over to their Instagram to get lost in their rabbit hole of cool ideas.

So I lied…I have one more video idea.

Since you stuck around to the end of this blog post, I think you should be rewarded, right?

#8 Bonus Idea: 3D Animations

Yet again, I’m hitting you with another idea to repurpose high-quality content; animated videos. There are two apps I suggest using for 3D animations: Loopsie or Capcut.

To spruce up an old photo using Capcut here’s what you need to do:

  • Download Capcut app
  • Import the photo you want to use
  • Tap on the photo in the timeline
  • Toggle to “style” at the bottom and click “3D zoom”

BAM! An amazing video that’s bound to stop the scroll.

Loopsie is similar but offers more templated 3D graphics and is a bit more straightforward. All you need to do is download the app, select a template, and insert the image you’d like to use.

And, just like that, you’ve stood out amongst the sea of social creators on your feed.

Let’s recap on all the types of content we went over, shall we?
