Meredith, what does writing the blog mean to you, and why did you become an entrepreneur in the first place?
It started as an outlet during a challenging time in my life, but has grown as a way for me to build my own skillset, bring in income, and offer employment to other moms in the same season of life.
What is your business about? How did you come across your idea?
It has always been about being REAL with other moms as a way we can support and encourage each other through our days–along with a needed dose of laughter!
Since you are also a mom… How do you balance your personal and professional life?
This has gotten both easier and harder as my kids have grown.
While there is far less time spent directly care for their needs (they can safely toilet themselves now 😉 ), there are many more demands on our time overall as a family. It is much harder to focus on my site!
Have you made any adjustments to your personal and professional life to juggle these two roles?
All the time, constantly, daily. They and their needs come first, always, so my professional commitments are constantly getting tabled and bumped.
There are many late nights when an assignment is due!
What is the greatest obstacle you have faced in achieving the success you desire? How do you overcome it?
Time and energy. And I am not sure how I do overcome this, I just keep trying my best every day.
What are the things that help you stay organized throughout the day and get time for everyone and everything? Is there a special time planner, or workspace design, or technique that you use?
Tell us your time management secrets!
I am a life-long, die-hard fan of my paper and pencil planner–it is never far out of reach!
It helps me think and stay focused when I write EVERYTHING down.
Also, with COVID-19 and learning from home, we implemented a family calendar–monthly and weekly–that hangs in our kitchen.
While the kids are now back in school, we have kept it up because it helps us all stay on track.
Any recommendations to Moms who dream about being entrepreneurs, but just can’t get started?
It’s really just one small step.
Take it and see where it goes, and if it’s meant to be, it will.
I sat down one afternoon during nap time when my son was 2 and my daughter 2 months, and googled “how to start a blog for free”… it all developed from that simple search.
